Velcro

velcro
  • Glue V page … Draw a large V on your paper. Cut a length of sticky-back velcro. Stick the soft side to one side of the V. Stick the scratchy side to the other side of the V. Let the kids feel the textures!

  • Velcro Ball Catch Game
    1. I have found these at several stores in the spring. You can also get them on Amazon here.
    2. The paddles have a velcro surface. When you throw the ball, it sticks to the paddles! Even my 2-year-old can catch the ball if I throw it right on the paddle Smile

  • Velcro Word Game
    1. Make a simple blank word strip. Cut 2 strips 8 1/2” by 2” from cardstock and tape them to make one long strip. (mine are leftover pattern strips, you don’t need the alternating colored boxes!!) alphabetletters
    2. Print out a set of alphabet letters (or two for extra letters). Cut the tiles apart and laminate.                                                         DSC02567 DSC02571
    3. Use sticky back velcro dots. Stick one side to the word strip (8-10 dots or so). Stick the other velcro side to the back of each letter tile. DSC02570
    4. Use a box of First Words flashcards (I found these at the dollar store or Target’s dollar spot)                                                                     DSC02566DSC02568
    5. Velcro the letter tiles to the word strip to match the letters and spell the words on the flashcards!

  2. What a great idea for word building. I used bottle lids last year with my first grader. This would be another fun way to practice her spelling words.

  3. I did Velcro today with my boys. I just wanted to let you now another option for the velcro paddle boards & ball. What I did was use a light weight plastic ball (or a wiffle ball, at the dollar store), put sticky back hook velcro all over it and used the cheap winter gloves (the $1 ones at ANY store). The boys loved it & could actually use their hands to catch the ball. Great way to teach the kids how to catch! (thanks for all the other velcro ideas!!)
