Best Playdoh Recipe

1 cup flour

1 cup water

1/4 cup salt

2 tsp. cream of tartar

1 Tbls. vegetable oil

food coloring (she used 4 drops)

Combine all of the ingredients into a pot and give them a good stir! Put your pot on the stove and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it forms a ball. As soon as it joins into one big glob, take it off the heat and dump it onto your counter or some wax paper. Wait for it to cool, then knead it a few times until it is nice and soft. Give the kids a turn too!

  • Paper Towel Tube Snakes
    1. Let the kids paint a paper towel tube any color they want (read books about snakes to get some ideas)
    2. Once dry, start at the end of the tube and cut in a circular, spiral line.
    3. At the end cut a head shape, then cut the tail in a tapered shape.
    4. The kids can wrap these around their arms as pets or hang them!
  • Snake Skin Rubbings
    1. Cut long strips of paper about 2-3” wide.
    2. Using an unwrapped crayon, use the flat side to do tire rubbings (a tire not attached to a vehicle would be best!)
    3. Cut the head and tail to resemble a snake. The rubbings make great looking snake skin!

  • Pipe Cleaner Snake … A simple craft idea from Michaels. Great for lacing practice!
    1. Make a loop in your pipe cleaner like a snake's head, twist together.
    2. Slide on pony beads to make a snake as long as you want.
    3. End by re-looping the pipe cleaner through the last bead.
    4. Add a tongue and googly eyes.
