House & Home

DSC03124
  • Learn your street address. We did this by going on an Address Hunt!
    1. I made a simple page (above) with dot letters spelling HOUSE, boxes to write our house numbers inside and lines to write our street name on.
    2. We clipped the page to a clipboard, put on our shoes and went on a hunt for our address.
    3. First stop, the numbers by our front door. I had my 4-year-old look at the numbers and write each one in a box.
    4. Next stop, we took a walk down the road to find our street name sign on the corner.
    5. Again, I had my 4-year-old look at the letters, say each one and write them on the lines until we figured out our address!
  • Learn about different homes by playing a memory match game.
    1. Print clipart of animals & their homes onto heavy cardstock. You can try printing the ones below. They are from Microsoft Clipart, my favorite place to find free clipart.
    2. Cut them apart.
    3. Mix them up and place face down on the table.
    4. Take turns trying to match the right animal with his home.

  • Popsicle Sticks House
    1. Glue 6 popsicle sticks onto paper to make a house ... 4 for a square, 2 for a triangle roof.
    2. Let them dry and add doors, windows, and a chimney to look like your house.
    3. Or draw a picture of your family inside the house!
  • Play hide & seek around the house.
Snack Idea: use graham cracker squares & peanut butter to make a simple house … or decorate with edible windows and doors!
